This cage is an excellent size for our three adults rats. They have a lot of fun climbing the bars, aswell as scurrying about the platforms. There’s so many rungs and bars that you can attach toys safely to aswell. The entire frame is high quality too, as they haven’t found a way to chew/wriggle their way out yet!
Only downside is that any flooring you may add (paper pellets/sawdust etc) will fall through the outside of the cage on the upper levels if your pets are being rambunctious!
Great cage for the money.
TLDR: A good quality beginner cage just be aware that the plastic will get chewed through by rats
I bought this as my starter cage for the two boy rats I bought. And I do genuinely believe it is a great cage, the way the platforms are attached to the cage means that you can move them about with ease to desired heights and orientations and they come back out with ease to scrub down when needed. However, I found an issue in that one of my boys decided to chew a hole through the handy dandy (/gen) removal plastic tray at the bottom. So unfortunately I am looking into a cage with a metal bottom to prevent that in the future. Truly, for a beginner cage, it works well and is a decent price and build quality. I love that the cage all comes apart in different places to ensure that any pee or poop that gets into the cracks can be cleaned efficiently. The ladders are a bit of a pain to put on but are really easy for my rats to climb up. The fact that there are so many doors both on the front and the top is also super helpful when trying to put in toys and such for the boys.
I spent a long time trying to decide which cage to get for our new rats, and this is perfect. Beware, it’s much bigger than it looks in the images! It was a bit fiddly to put together but probably took about 30-40 mins. It feels very well made and it has a tray at the bottom which you can slide out for easy cleaning. Our rats are 8 weeks old and they can’t escape through the bars.
This cage is everything I wanted for my daughter’s rats. However it came a bit bent out of shape so was difficult to put together and needed cable ties to prevent the rats escaping through a few sections. Other than that it’s a great cage and couldn’t fault it.
Fantastic and lots of space for my 2 rats
Perfect size for my two rats, only problem I have with it is having to replace the bottom flooring every day or two as there’s loads of little holes (helpful when I’m cleaning the bedding and poop out and it falls to the shelf below) but there’s a risk of them getting their feet caught. There’s three big doors which makes cleaning all levels easier and plenty of space for blankets, toys and nibbles 🙂
I wanted a new cage for my 4 rats as their current one was impractical with a small door and wooden platforms that were impossible to clean. This cage is amazing, I love the 2 big doors for easy access and the door on top I won’t really use but it’s there if needed. A great size for them to run about in. The drawer underneath is great for cleaning out any bedding that’s fallen. I put a bath mat on the bottom of the cage to protect their feet as the base has holes in. So far so good, a great replacement for their old cage!
We’re new to rat ownership but the cage is bigger than expected and easy to clean, with the pull out bottom drawer and two large doors on the front. The top didn’t feel quite so secure, but was easily reinforced with some cable ties. The rats certainly seem to be enjoying their new home.
Fantastic cage… Bought for my new upcoming baby ferret….the cage is perfect especially having the 1cm bar spacing (which is difficult to find when googling ferret cages) this cage is the same dimensions and size as ferret cages but with the smaller bar spacing which is a must have….the only downfall is the cage arrived damaged with a big crack in the plastic (but i will super glue it as im collecting my baby in 2 days time and need the cage now)….I would however suggest the bases be wrapped up in bubble wrap before shipping to prevent this because not everyone would spend that amount of money for a damaged cage….
